Have you, like me, recently or suddenly found everything to be somewhat boring and trite? All of the observations, arguments, supposed innovations and disruptive technologies seem .. well .. totally bland.
Things we used to enjoy, for example, new novels, movies & TV shows, athletes, musicians and accomplishments have all become sort of dull. Even that which used to be bold, shocking and weird is simply common these days.
What I think has happened is that we all, collectively, just kind of figured out the formula of everything all at once. We seem to be lacking any mystery in life. What is unknown can easily be known. The ability to connect with millions of people who have similar interests has somehow made everything, and everyone, a little bit less interesting. Nobody seems particularly inspired or inspiring. It’s just kind of the same old debates and discussions day after day after day.
Should I blame the Internet? The Information Age? Social media? AI? Singularity?
Or, perhaps, it is just me.
